The city of Gulfport Police Department is a full service law Enforcement Agency
dedicated to providing quality service to the community. The Gulfport Police Department is a professional law enforcement agency, accredited by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation in 2000 and reaccredited in 2003, 2006, and 2009. Very few of Florida's 200-plus police departments have achieved this honor.
Chief G. Curt Willocks has noted, "By choosing to participate in the formal and thorough peer review by the commission, the Gulfport Police Department can document to the citizens of Florida that it adheres to high standards of professionalism and is among the finest in the state." Evidencing his dedication to professionalism, Chief Willocks was recently selected as one of three police chiefs who serve as commissioners for the Florida accreditation program.
The Gulfport Police Department has three supervisors who are certified assessors for the Commission, and they have participated in reviews of other agencies around the state, bringing home fresh ideas and new contacts for future operational support.
